I’ve been wondering when Mumzy’s tracks would be available on physical, and looks like Rishi Rich has answered again, releasing The EP .
The EP contains H DHami and Mumzy’s two top tracks each. Tracks are Sadke Java, Mitraan Di Jaan, Stranger and Let’s Party. You’ve probs heard the songs over a thousand times in the past few weeks, and you’ll hear them more as H Dhami’s album just launched (watch this page for a review of Sadke Java), but if you have no idea of whose these brothers are ( W T F! ), here is some background.
After Juggy D, came H Dhami and Mumzy, Rishi Rich’s next two projects. H Dhami, son of legendary Palvinder Dhami of the band Heera, followed the same steps of his father and is now a bhangra artist. In many ways H Dhami is similar to Juggy D. New style bhangra, dance steps and posses a great stage presence. But in many ways he is different. That’s for you to decide. He was votes Best Newcommer and Best Male Act in the UKAMAs , and is the talk of the town as we speak. His album has just launched and i hear more orders have been placed as stocks are running out!
On Rishi’s other shoulder, Mumzy. Mumzy hailed by the Asian media as the ‘Bengali answer to Sean Paul.’ His vocals alternate between sweet, soulful Rn’B and unfamiliar to many, MC/Bashment. His single Stranger was a surprise. Normally, Rishi Rich remixes and tracks can be recognised from the beats, but stranger was a wholly different vibe. You can catch him on H DHmai’s album too.
And finally the Bolly~Bhangra 1 0 1 podcast is out! Mixed by DCS Dynasty’s DJ Navi who was voted as USA’s numer uno desi DJ.
This podcast highlights some of the best bollywood music and bhangra music that has been made in the past couple of years. I selected the tracks keeping in mind an intense energy level , that i’m glad to say never dies out through the entire 72 mins it runs. It contains old school bhangra new school bhanra, both which are danceable, and in some peculiar way induces you to get involved in all the chaos. Basically, its bolly/bhangra at its BEST!

Shawn Isaac aka ShawnJawn’s talent doesn’t just end at recording artist. Apart from rapping, he beatboxes, dances, sings, acts, in addition to being a talent coordinator on hip hop mogul Russell Simmon’s new TV channel “H20” and starting his own music-oriented company. The Ohio-born superstar moved to California at the age of 8, and now resides in the greater area of Hollywood/Los Angeles. It was not until he settled in California that he actively pursued his musical career.
In recent months, Shawn Isaac has been working on songs with platinum-selling artists such as MIMS (who had the smash worldwide hit “This is Why I’m Hot”) and Fabolous, and such super-producers as Drew Right who produced on the “Hannah Montana” and “High School Musical” albums. He’s been busy in production with his producer Eddie Galan who is 16 times platinum, a 4 time American Billboard Award winner, and did one of the theme songs for the Olympics this year! He tells me other possible collaborations may include: The Game, Akon, Lil’ Wayne, and Snoop Dogg. Clearly he is deep in the game and well-respected! .
When outside the studio, Shawn has been actively involved with MTV. His own show on MTV has been airing repeatedly since January 2008. He was also part of an episode of MTV’s hit show “My Super Sweet 16″. In addition, Shawn has done professional voiceover for MTV and is in talks with them about getting his own series. Shawn Isaac has competed in nationally acclaimed competitions as well, such as “Best New Talent” and “Making the Next Hit” with platinum-selling rap artist, Lil’ Wayne, in which he was a finalist.
But what brings an artist like him to Bollyhood? Previously posted Nachna Revisited (the original song -Nachna Onda Nei- which had had a worldwide buzz even before it was aired on Britain’s hit show “Britain’s Got Talent”), by Tigerstyle features Shawn Isaac. The song was immediately A-listed on BBC. What a way to crossover into the Desi music scene!! Tigerstyle is regarded as a pioneer of the Asian sounds and has produced numerous instant hits.
Shawn Isaac will be a threat to other current recording artists as he has a full package to offer. Whether it’s having lunch with Swizz Beats, calling up Mims, chopping it up with Pitbull, or texting guys from The Pack, Shawn Isaac is constantly and consistently networking and looking for new opportunities to not only further his own career, but that of others too. So that’s a direct offer to all the existing producers in the scene! You know you’ve been looking for the right guy for the job…maybe you’ve found him!?? The next generation is here: Shawn Isaac aka ShawnJawn.

I just received another mix of DJ Shadow & Zoheb out of Dubai. It’s been playing on the BBC Asian Network , and it’s none other than H Dhami’s Sadke Java (available on iTunes store). Unlike the Stay mix, Sadke Java has been revamped by taking out all the desi elements and putting it into the club vibe which may disappoint some of fans who dance to the intensity of the dhol, but will defintly turn heads of new listeners, dance/house heads and those who are high!
The carrier of Asian music to the Middle East he has already remixes the biggest Asian Urban tunes and earned a name for himself as a first class remixer. If yourin india you can catch DJ Shadow in a club near you. For dates and places visit his facebook group

Drop into the mix tent for the best mix of daal , naan, butter ckicken, shahee paneer, aloo gobi electro, hip hop and bhangra … asian ishtyle!
Bringing you some of the exciting news of one of my favourite musician, D-Boy’s debut single ‘Nach Ke - Bhangra Bounce’ featuring Swiss and VdublE, was released last year and made a huge impact in clubs and radio. It became one of the fastest rising urban club tracks of 2008. His appearance on the Bobby Friction & Nihal Presents Show on Radio1 took in the most text messages EVER live on the show.
D-Boy has produced one of India’s biggest hit of 2007 when he produced ‘Look 4 Me’ for music artist Hard Kaur. The single helped launch her career in India and has become a public smash hit. It’s now his time to shine with his own solo debut album ‘Playback’ that has fans poised to purchase.
Laden with Bollywood bassline and London rhymes, UK producer D-Boy’s experimental album ‘Playback’ gives an insight in to a love of Bollywood in Battersea. Energetic beats, strings and grime - it’s a sound that’s uniquely British and uniquely D-boy.
The ‘Playback’ project reveals a lot about the producer and his identity. Each of the tracks on the album follows the same concept, the marrying of his two different identities, British and Indian. Both these influences are now intrinsically bound and part of his creative process, how he hears music and therefore his output. What is different about him, is that he doesn’t implement tumbis and dhols to bring in the desi flavours. One of my favourite track is Tu Bataja (ft Des C). To get a preview of Tu Bataja CLICK HERE and to listen to D-Boy LIVE from the BBC studio CLICK HERE
The album ‘Playback’ is out 18th August 2008 both physical and digital.
By the end of 2007, another huge collaboration was formed. A collab compared to the Punjabi MC Jay-Z killer combo, but this time it was Kidd Skilly and Grammy Award winning artist Akon with the hit single Ni Sohniye. Kidd Skilly has now paired Panjabi MC, the famed UK producer of Jay-Z’s Beware of the Boys. The tandem’s result is the official remix for the track Ni Sohniye.
The Ni Sohniye Remix by Panjabi MC, brings 3 stars of the music industry together on one track. Panjabi MC and Kidd Skilly, long time friends, met up in the UK to produce the highly anticipated track. Combining two of the most influential South Asian artists, with one of the most successful Hip Hop artist in the world is sure to produce one of the hottest tracks of the year.
The track will be available exclusively on Kidd Skilly’s new upcoming mix-tape Undercover Superstar and also on the Project Bollyhood urban 101 podcast. The mix-tape will available for download later this summer on KiddSkilly.com and right here at Bollyhood.
Wassup folks!! Tigerstyle have designed a new and infamous “Nachna Revisted“….a brand new flip on the original “Nachna Onda Nei” from their first album “The Rising” which came out in 2000.
This is the tune that took Suleman & Madhu Singh (SIGNATURE) to Britain’s Got Talent this year and won them second place in the final!!!!!!
This new mix still has Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean funk in there, but with a new spin with fresh Tumbi, psychadelic Dance synths, and a bangin’ Indian rhythm section. Kaka sounds fresh as ever on vocals and we’ve coupled him with Shawn Jawn, an upcoming Asian rapper from California they are working with.
You can listen to it exclusively on the BBC Asian Network:

Loud N’ Proud 2 will be in stores sooner than later! Mick St Clair has come up with another album of cracking good bhangra dance tracks with Loud ‘N’ Proud 2. This album is a follow up to the massively successful Loud ‘N’ Proud, which was a comeback album for Mick after his break from the music production scene.
Loud ‘N’ Proud 2, a fusion of dhol, tumbi and Western dance beat. It encompasses modern bhangra music’s best known talent, such as Kaka Bhaniawala, Feroz Khan and Amrit Saab along with up and coming talent such as J-Deep, Ranjit Rana, Jyoti Sarda and Raju Mahi. Also featured are the veteran talents of Mehboob Chohan who was the ideal choice to sing the track Dholla Veh Dholla (Bollywood Style) because of the similarity of his voice to the late legend Mohammed Rafi.

It’s no wonder that Singh Is King was one of the most expensive sound tracks of the year. Collabs with the Snoop Doggy Dog itself cost 7 Corores (thats RS 70000000 =$ 466000). Then came the cost of hiring RDB brothers,Tigerstyle brothers, HardKaur, DJ Jay Dabhi, Labh Janjua ! Even I can’t absorb the fact that all these A list musicians were brought together for this album. But was this cost justified?
First of all, Jay’s remix of Talli Hua was not the original mix (look back for the original mix for FREE DOWNLOAD), and personally, i think the Snoop collab is just over hyped. It didn’t even catch my attention when it was playing on TV, Akshay is better on the camera and NOT on the mic. Please, if you know him, keep him away from it!
Tigerstyle’s Bas Ek King with HardKaur had a much better energy level. I was glad to see a remix of Bhooti Ke that wasn’t a club mix, . It seems that every bollywood remix has to be club mix, just putting in a standard b-line and some effects.Thumbs up for TS
On first listen of Jee Karda Remix, i though it sounded very like Groove Armada’s Get Down (the crazy bunny video) but i’d say the track turned out to be pretty neat. The original version was more bhangra/hip-hop but was equally body moving.
Finally the sound crew of the bollywood films have managed to realise Shaan and Sonu Nigam don’t sound great singing piunjabi tunes. A sigh of relief when i heard Mika, Daler and Labh Janjua doing the punjabi. Hopefully we’ll see more of them.
Overall i’d give it a 7 out of 10 for the efforts of bringing the best musicians together, and who helped tiped the scale to the better side with their remixes. Without the remixes, i don’t know how well this OST would survive.
Singh Is Kinng - Singh Is Kinng

Word is out that the legendary B21 has been cooking up a storm in their studio. But there is ambivalence amongst the fans. After the departure of Jassi Sidhu, people say things have never been the same. But not to forget that Bhota Jagpal has produced hits before B21 as well.
Rumours in the scene say the album title is ‘3’s A Crowd, 2’s A company’ therefore directly launching an attack in Jassi, who departed 5 years ago. B21 have been working with a few artists over the recent years such as ADH and other artists on the Moviebox record label. Album is expected in summer, but nothing can be said… I mean we don’t even have an album name! Only time will tell whether B21 produces a hit or is *hit.
Ahhhh ha! So why was the girl same again? Har Gabroo is a continuation of the Sadke Java video where H manages to hook with the smokin’ hot kurri ! If the whole album turns out to be a story like this, i can’t wait to grab my copy! Har Gabroo is a degree slower than Salke Java or Mittran De Jaan, but thats because it focuses on the romantic side of the story and the regular flute twitters really helps bring out the romanticness, along with the clips of the girl touching his nose and H just STARING into the girls eyes. A very simple but effective video. I’m impressed. Song is killer too.

Going back some time, to one of my podcasts… remember The Psychadelic Singh - Dum Maro Dum An old classic just turned upside down, experimented with until an electro dimensioned oldie was produced ? Well, he’s dished out another amazing tune, called Ghara. YES this too is out for a free download from his myspace : http://www.myspace.com/psychedelicsingh
I just can’t describe it… you have to check it for youeselves! The only thing that could be a turn off is that it repeats itself a whole 4 minutes.
Adding their own twist to a big US mainstream tracks, and having the largest number of downloads for it, Nivla and P. Oberoi, are giving away another free track, but this time they’ve been helped out by Just-In.
Grab a copy of On the Dance Floor which has the typical hip hop beat but then intensified with samples of an very famous electronic track that i can’t recall! That helps doesn’t it ! As usual Nivla is rapping about the ladies, just as he did in The Kinda Girl I Like, but the rap just off the hook!

There is no hesitation in saying that Ashiqan de dil currently No: 11 on BBC Asian Network is just days away from reaching the top spot on the charts! Bikram Singh’s new album, Tip Top, is really sending the desis into a frenzy, but ladies and gentlemen, the wait is nearly over! July 15th should be out either physical or digital, not sure.A qucik synopsis on the 2 tracks which are available for previw on his myspace , http://www.myspace.com/bikrams , :
Aashiqan De Dil : a complete dhol walla dance track which you can howl to as you shake it out on the dance floor. The dhol beats are some beats i haven”t heard before … but then again, how much music do i hear ??!
Ik Vaari Ajaa : a bit to the slower side, but none the less attractive. A great way to break from the extreme loundness of any previous track you were listening to, but still maintaining that high level of entertainment!

Looks like there has been some fishy things going on with the the very expensive, and one of the most talked about soundtrack in the Bollywood industry, Singh is King. It seems that the person who was approached to dish out a remix for the track Talli Hua, Jay Dabhi out of NYC (producer of tracks such as Mumbai after Dark, Kawan’s Other Life) was simply pushed aside and his mix tampered with, resulting to a remix NOT by Jay Dabhi. So if you’ve purchased the album, please not its not from our favourite DJ , Jay Dabhi.
This is what Jay had to say :
But don’t be disheartened, because the man has put of the REAL mix for a free download! How ofter dies he do that! If only all his tracks were free

I’d just like to put out the news that 3 podcasts are on its way. Each podcast will concentrate on 1 genre. I have in stock 1 bhangra/bolly podcasts (mixed by DJ Navi) , an urban podcast (by DJ Gup-E) and an electro podcast (mixed by DJ Wardan) .
Secondly, the point of podcast is for promotions and not to rip tracks off it. That would be me illegally giving out music, which is not going to happen. So PLEASE stop asking for me to send you music, or how to filter single tracks out of the podcasts. Any free music will be posted up for downloading. Of course, you may request for a specific song to be played.
cheers
