ohh Great Scott!!
Ayan | 29 06 2008My good friend (trust me i don’t want to confuse you with his full name), part responsible for stimulating me to move into the Asian scene, loved the following piece of music soo much, he decided to do my work. Am i complaining? NOPE!
Who said Asian breaks were dead? They’re alive and kickin’ if producers like DJ Great Scott grace our ears. Having heard his Bollygraph Test on Bobby + Nihal’s show, I thought I’d dig up more dirt on this talented producer. Luckily his not-too-hard-to-find website at http://djgreatscott.com is very informative! I guess we should be thankful that he spends more time on his sampling than on his books (he’s a grad student). Nevertheless, if you can’t get enough on Bollygraph Test, listen to Chai Overdose (click to download) on his website. It’s another outstanding example of Asian breaks.
MutiMusic did the right thing by picking up his Bollygraph Test tune, because he needs more support. DJ Great Scott’s sound is fresh, slightly tilted towards the pseudo-breaks of Orbital and Prodigy. His sampling is restrained (thank God!) and his ‘Yankee’ perspective (his words) on Asian music is volatile and full of twists. Grab his RSS feed or follow him on Twitter (djgreatscott), because you don’t want to miss any future tunes from this guy.
